Water jet cutting

Water jet cutting is a process that is also called abrasive waterjet cutting.

Currently, this technology, called waterjet, is the most efficient method of material processing in the world due to its high cutting precision. Furthermore it allows to cut various, even very complicated shapes in a wide range of materials.

At Metalmix, we use the best water jet cutting machine in the world MACH 3 (6000 BAR), produced by American company FLOW INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION, world leader in technology.

It is worth to add that as one of the few companies on the market our machine is equipped with system Dynamic Waterjet with active control of cutting head what ensures a precise cutting of almost each material type.

Maximum working area at Metalmix: 3600 mm x 1800 mm, standard material thickness: 190 mm, maximum material thickness: 500 mm, pressure: 6000 BAR.

Machine type: Water-Jet Cutting – IFB2 (6000 BAR)

Types of processed material: steel (alloy steel, structural steel, stainless steel), non-ferrous metal (like cooper, brass, aluminium), plastic, glass, rubber, stone, marble, ceramics and wood-based materials.

This technology, due to its diversified application, is used in all industry sectors (among others aviation, automotive, construction, masonry, glazing, building, paper or food industry).

One of the most important advantages of water jet cutting system is the lack of thermal impact on the processed material, what means that its structure doesn't change (the maximum process temperature is 40 °C).  Furthermore there is practically no pressure on proceed material, because there is no direct contact with tool and part.
There is also a special method developed for cutting of metal, glass, stone and other hard materials.  In order to increase the cutting force, to water jet is introduced an abrasive material. This method is known as “Paser”.

A universal application of this method means that for some material the water jet cutting is the only way to obtain requested effect in a single technological process.

Application of this method has several advantages, among others:

  • very good quality of cut edges
  • no changes in the structure of cut material
  • no emission of dust and gas during cutting process, so environmental friendly!
  • furthermore, water doesn't make material harder.
